Goldmine Latte

We purchased Goldmine Latte (Lil) in 2004 from Goldmine Stud in VIC, as a virtually unhandled 7 month old with the intention to breed a tall palomino riding horse from her when she was of age.

She was a scrawny, unhandled, untouchable feisty little filly with four broken bones in her wither.
We bought her as a broodmare as we were told by two vets that Lil would never be able to be ridden.

Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine the journey ahead of us ....

Lil and Jenni commenced showing as "an outing to get her used to being floated and being around other horses and new places" in September 2009.

This is a photo of Lil and Jenni's first class, first show, first ribbon ever.

To our complete gob-smacked surprise, she went Supreme Dilute Led Exhibit of Show (winning the Betty Hosking Memorial Trophy) and Reserve Champion Ridden Horse of Show,

at this same show, the 2009 SA Dilutes Australia - State Championships

Goldmine Latte's results over the next 6 years, are shared below.
Please share in her story with us, through some beautiful photos we will treasure forever.

In March 2013, after the Royal Adelaide Show, Goldmine Latte-HSH was semi-retired, 96 days in foal.

At the very respectable time of 9am on Saturday, 23 November 2013, Lil gave birth to her first foal, a stunning WB x ASHS palomino colt, named Skyview Premier d'Or.

In November 2015, Lil produced an outstanding tall Heritage buckskin filly by Regal Banquet xx, who we have named Skyview Champagne Grace-HSH.

In December 2017, Lil produced a super Heritage Australian Stock Horse, ANSA and part-Arabian palomino colt by Gwaihir Aubusson, who we have named Skyview Ambassador-HSH.

Goldmine Latte - HSH has proven she is not only a great led and ridden horse, but also an amazing and incredible mother.

So proud of our Girl, who continues to step up to the mark and beyond, whenever asked.

February 2016 - Goldmine Latte achieves two Lifetime Awards for Excellence

20 February 2016

Skyview Stud - Australia is thrilled, still in shock and very humbled to announce that our cremello Heritage Australian Stock Horse Mare - Goldmine Latte (HSH), aka Lil, has officially achieved both her Dilutes Australia Opal Award, and her Dilutes Australia Spectrum Award.

The Opal Award is Dilutes Australia's most prestigious award. It is a lifetime award and is awarded to those horses and ponies that achieve excellence across a number of equestrian disciplines.

In order to qualify for the Opal Award, a dilute must collect a minimum of 1000 points, consisting of:

  • 500 points at halter in approved dilute classes. Halter classes are judged on conformation, manners and paces. Promotional classes (best presented, best conformed etc classes) are not eligible.
  • 300 points in ridden competition in approved dilute classes.
  • 200 points in open halter, ridden or driven competition in other than dilute classes.

The Spectrum Award is the lifetime award for Ancillary registered horses or ponies, a special subset of the Dilutes stud book.

In order to qualify for the Spectrum Award, an Ancillary horse or pony must collect a minimum of 600 points consisting of:

  • 300 points at halter in approved classes. Halter classes are judged on conformation, manners and paces. Promotional classes (best presented, best conformed etc classes) are not eligible.
  • 200 points in ridden competition in approved classes.
  • 100 points in open halter, ridden or driven competition.

The Opal Award and Spectrum Awards,
presented by
the National Board of Dilutes Australia
in Adelaide, February 2016.

This is a momentous achievement for us as relative newcomers to both competition and breeding.

Goldmine Latte-HSH is a horse that dreams are made of.

A fantastic all-round riding horse, with excellent temperament, and an incredible mother.

Congratulations Lil - you're amazing. It's been the most incredible journey and I am so blessed to have you in my life.

The beautiful Dilutes Australia Limited Opal Award and Spectrum Award, kindly arranged by Ms Barbara Arnold.  The Opal Award features a piece of Australian opal and a Beswick palomino horse.
The Spectrum Award features a piece of Australian crystal and a Swarovski Crystal sculptured piece.

Our introduction to what it was like to be an "unusual colour" in a field of "normal horses".
And I really had no idea, until I looked at this photo.
This was before dilute horses became "more widely accepted amongst traditional circles".

Other Achievements

At her first Open Novice EA Dressage Test,
Goldmine Latte placed 4th out of 30, despite a deduction of 2 marks with an error of course.

Goldmine Latte won the 15 - 15.2h and placed Reserve Champion Open Hack at 2 out of 2 open hacking events entered.

In March 2013, after the Royal Adelaide Show, Goldmine Latte-HSH was semi-retired, 96 days in foal.

At the very respectable time of 9am on Saturday, 23 November 2013, Lil gave birth to her first foal, a stunning WB x ASHS palomino colt, now named Skyview Premier d'Or.

The colt's name was proposed by Mrs Gail Rossington.  We wanted a name in keeping with his sire, the International Hanoverian stallion, Le Primeur.  Le Primeur is a French word meaning "the First".
Premier d'Or is also a French word, meaning "the First Golden One".

We thought this was very appropriate, given he is the first palomino in the world by Le Primeur, and also his dam's first foal.

Lil proved not only was she an incredible show and riding mare, she was also a superb and loving mother.

Photos of her colt are on Premier d'Or's page, under "Our Mares and Performance Horses".

We think her little 2013 bloke is a bit special.

At 4 days of age

At 5 weeks

We have chosen to give Lil a year to focus on her foal, and will return her to work in Spring 2014 to see if we can achieve her Lifetime Awards as a Cremello and Dilute Ancillary.

She will hopefully go back in foal in Spring 2014 for a 2015 baby.
